“Women Studies” - this is my take on Fernando Botero's wonderful artistic style. In early 2024, I stumbled upon the Adam & Eve sculptures in NY’s Columbus Circles mall a year ago. And I was completely dumbfounded. Just two brazenly naked large sculptures right near the entrance. They were sculpted by Fernando Botero who had a wonderful playful taste in his art. I loved how he elongated and shortened the characters’ limbs and yet made them somehow look like people you were familiar with. Taking his playful style and putting my own spin on it, here are some practices of using Eve’s shape and creating new characteristic forms out of her.
When I first moved to New York, I hosted a dinner part that was authentic to my bold style and brought my artistic style to life. Obviously, I had to draw the two cats that abrupt my mornings everyday. Below are illustrations and explorations of Benny and Jim the cats.
